CGCL Showcases Innovation in Process Safety at the PLEA PSM Conference 2025
Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited’s (CGCL’s) Randall Ramkhalawan and Rayadh Mayrhoo delivered a stellar presentation on the company’s Single Boiler Operations Strategy at the Annual PLEA Process Safety Management (PSM) Conference on November 21, 2025. The event brought together captains of industry to share best practices, strengthen safety culture, and advance operational excellence across the energy and petrochemical sectors. As a company committed to continuous improvement and safe, efficient operations, CGCL was proud to participate in and contribute to this year’s event.
The presentation highlighted the company’s innovative response to driving efficiencies in the utilization of natural gas and detailed CGCL’s successful transition to a Single Boiler Operating Philosophy, demonstrating how this strategic shift supports both Process Safety and our broader Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Strategy. The new operating model was safely implemented through robust PSM practices, including updated procedures, targeted employee training, comprehensive pre-startup safety reviews, strong mechanical integrity, and disciplined management of change processes. This approach ensured that safety, reliability, and optimal plant performance remained uncompromised.
Key outcomes:
- Cost savings exceeding USD 30,000 per month
- GHG reductions of up to 750 tCO2e monthly
- Enhanced methanol production and overall operational efficiency
- Identification of additional optimization opportunities for future phases
The team was well supported by colleagues from across the business. Team members included:
- Randall Ramkhalawan (Presenter)
- Rayadh Mayrhoo (Presenter)
