CGCL Hosts Second Annual Spelling Bee Competition

Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL) proudly hosted its second annual Spelling Bee Competition, bringing together some of the brightest young minds from the six (6) primary schools within the La Brea and surrounding communities. The event took place at the new minted La Brea Community Centre on October 30, and was well attended by students, parents, standard 5 teachers and school principals. The CGCL Spelling Bee Competition is one of the highlights on CGCL’s community engagement calendar, aiming to foster literacy, confidence, and academic excellence among students.

After a series of exciting rounds filled with poise, determination, remarkable spelling skills and great competitive spirits, Megan Morgan of La Brea R.C. School emerged as the First-Place Winner, earning the coveted 2025 CGCL Spelling Bee Championship trophy.

She was closely followed by:

  • Second Place: Alex Sonilal – Rousillac Hindu School
  • Third Place: Abigale Cooblal Singh – Rousillac Hindu School
  • Fourth Place: Daniel Nandlal – Rousillac Presbyterian School
  • Fifth Place: Abia Lloyd – Brighton A.C. School

The competition showcased not only the participants’ spelling prowess but also their dedication, composure, and sportsmanship. Each finalist represented their school with pride and enthusiasm, embodying the spirit of learning that CGCL continues to encourage through its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
